Former Disney CEO Bob Iger is being honored as a 2026 Disney Legend at D23.
Current CEO D'Amaro called him a visionary, saying he is "one of the most consequential business leaders of our time."
Iger, he said, never built for the moment. Instead, he built for what lasts.
"That's what legends do," he said.
Robert Downey Jr., Diane Sawyer, Harrison Ford, Ellen Pompeo and Al Michaels later honored Iger by sharing stories of his impact.
"It's your integrity and your kindness that will be your legacy forever," said "Grey's Anatomy" star Pompeo. "And thank you, Bob, for reminding us that leadership is not only about making decision, but about making people matter."
Iger spoke of the responsibility to help make the world a better place, and how grateful he was to have had that exceptional life experience.
As an executive, he said the true job is to support creatives, the true talent that drives this company forward.
He accepted the award in thanks to the creatives and castmembers "who truly make this company what it is."
Bob Iger is the former CEO of The Walt Disney Co. Born in New York City, he began his career as a local TV weatherman before joining ABC in 1974, eventually rising through the ranks to become president and chief operating officer of Capital Cities/ABC prior to its acquisition by Disney. He went on to serve as Disney's CEO from 2005 to 2021 before returning to the role in November 2022 to lead an enterprise-wide creative transformation. Iger stepped down from his role as CEO in March.
During his more than two decades at the helm of Disney, Iger oversaw major acquisitions, including Pixar, Marvel, Lucasfilm and 21st Century Fox, as well as the 2016 opening of Shanghai Disney Resort and the 2019 launch of Disney+. His tenure has produced record-setting releases such as "Frozen," "Black Panther," "Avengers: Endgame," "Inside Out 2" and "Avatar: Fire and Ash."
A member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and an inductee into the Television Academy Hall of Fame, Iger was named an Honorary Knight Commander of the Order of the British Empire in 2022 and awarded France's Chevalier de la Légion d'honneur in 2024.

Dwayne Johnson is being honored as a 2026 Disney Legend at D23 by his "Jungle Cruise" costar Emily Blunt.
When she first met him, Blunt said she realized that the bravado of "The Rock was nowhere to be seen.
"It's a performance," she said, "The performance of a lifetime."
Instead, she said Johnson is someone who is disarmingly wise, gentle, curious, unpretentious.
She was quick to note he's not an angel, adding he's a nonconforming, rule-breaking rebel.
When Johnson took the stage, he said there was no script in the teleprompter. Instead, he shared thoughts from his heart.
"We all do what we can to create moments and experiences of joy for people and their families all around the world," he said. "That's important and it means something."
Johnson shared a story about how a trip to Disney brought so much joy to his daughter, who he then honored by leading the Honda Center in a round of the "Happy Birthday" song.
Reflecting on what it means to be a Disney Legend, Johnson said it's important that we do our best to make people feel good and treat them with kindness, because you never know what they're going through.
"It's nice to be important," he said. "But it's more important to be nice."
Dwayne Johnson is an actor, producer and former professional wrestler whose career began after a professional football career slipped away at age 23, leaving him down to his last $7. He entered professional wrestling, becoming the most popular and successful wrestler of all time, before transitioning into acting to become Hollywood's highest-paid leading man and one of the top five box-office stars of all time with over $15 billion in global grosses.
After making his film debut in "The Mummy Returns" (2001) and securing his first lead role in "The Scorpion King" (2002), Johnson has appeared in more than 40 films. His credits include the "Fast & Furious" and "Jumanji" franchises, "Jungle Cruise," and voicing the demigod Maui in Disney's "Moana," "Moana 2," and bringing the character to life in live-action "Moana."
Johnson's career includes expanding into producing through Seven Bucks Productions, writing a No. 1 New York Times bestselling memoir, and earning a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actor for his portrayal of UFC fighter Mark Kerr in "The Smashing Machine."

Anne Hathaway is being honored as a 2026 Disney Legend at D23 by David Frankel, who directed "The Devil Wears Prada" and its sequel, "The Devil Wears Prada 2."
Frankel shared a story about Hathaway's devotion to her craft, saying he found her crouched in the corner while filming the first movie, listening to Giacomo Puccini's "Madama Butterfly."
While he he questioned at first why she would be listening to an operatic tragedy, he realized that by leaning into the pain, she added real emotional depth.
Vogue's Anna Wintour also honored the actress in a prerecorded video message, sending her all her love.
Describing herself as lucky, Hathaway said she's thankful to spend her life doing what she loves: having adventures, knowing joy and sharing life with her husband and children.
"As cool as all this is, just us being us is where I'm happiest," she said."
Anne Hathaway is a veteran performer of stage and screen whose work spans major pop culture franchises. Born in New York City, she studied performing arts at Vassar College and New York University before launching her film career.
Hathaway's Disney breakthrough came as Mia Thermopolis in "The Princess Diaries" (2001) and "The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement" (2004). She later starred as the White Queen in Tim Burton's "Alice in Wonderland" (2010) and "Alice Through the Looking Glass" (2016). Her film credits include "Ella Enchanted," "Becoming Jane," "Love & Other Drugs," the animated films "Rio" and "Rio 2," and voicing Haru in the English dub of Studio Ghibli's "The Cat Returns." On television, she appeared in "Get Real" and earned an Emmy Award for guest appearances on "The Simpsons."
A recipient of Oscar, Golden Globe, Emmy, Critics' Choice, SAG and BAFTA awards, Hathaway's most recent Disney role was reprising Andy Sachs in "The Devil Wears Prada 2."
