Members of Fremont police and neighboring law enforcement agencies have been coming and going from San Jose Regional Medical Center to support the officers who were shot.

At least a dozen officers from neighboring law enforcement agencies are holding a vigil there to offer their support.

In addition to Fremont police, members from San Jose, Sunnyvale, Hayward and San Leandro police departments are just some of the agencies offering support.

Fremont police say the officer in critical condition was shot once, and the detective in stable condition was shot twice.

Fremont Mayor Bill Harrison was at the hospital to show his support as well. "This is what every mayor dreads is when you hear that there was an officer-involved shooting first and then of course when you hear officers are victims of a crime itself," he said. "I tell you that we're all praying right now and I hope that both officers will be okay."

The officers have not been identifed. Officials said the officer in critical condition has been with the department for one year, while the

detective in stable condition has been with the department for 10 years.
