OAKLAND, Calif. (KGO) -- Oakland police say they arrested 29 protesters after the New Year's Eve rally against police brutality turned violent.

An estimated 130 protesters blocked cars in the street. A firecracker was thrown at an officer, graffiti was painted on businesses, and a trash can was thrown against a police car.

One arrest was for assault with a deadly weapon.
