1 dead, 1 in critical condition after fatal head-on collision in Palo Alto

PALO ALTO, Calif. (KGO) -- One man is dead after a head-on collision near Stanford University.

Police say the man was driving a silver Nissan that veered into on-coming traffic. The driver of the other car, a female in a Volkswagen, was critically injured. She is expected to survive.

The first report of the collision came in at 7:01 p.m. on Junipero Serra Boulevard just east of Campus Drive, according to CHP officials.
