SAN JOSE, Calif. (KGO) -- A person was killed when a car crashed into a San Jose credit union after a collision late Friday morning, police said.
Alliance credit union on Curtner was closed for Veterans Day so there were no customers inside, but some painters were hired to do some work on the building.
Officers responded to a report of a vehicle inside Alliance Credit Union at 265 Curtner Ave. around 11:45 a.m., police said.
An initial investigation showed two cars collided into one another before one of them swerved into the building, where one of the painters was struck and pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
The second painter was transported to a hospital, but police say they expect him to be okay.
Both drivers stayed at the scene and have cooperated with the investigation, police said.
Westbound Curtner Avenue was closed between Little Orchard Street and Communications Hill Boulevard as the investigation continued.
Anyone with information on the case is asked to call the Police Department's traffic investigations unit at (408) 277-4654.
