SAVANNAH, GA -- The Savannah Bananas, a college baseball team, have a new bat-dog. The seven-week-old puppy named Daisy was found abandoned and crying in the team's parking lot. She didn't have tags, a collar, or a microchip.
Now, Bananas president Jared Orton and his wife Kelsey have adopted little Daisy. After she was deemed healthy by a local veterinarian, the couple put her to work as the team's new bat dog. Daisy comes in to the office every day to help ship out Bananas merchandise and greet visitors.
"We aren't sure how big she'll get, so it's hard to say if she'll be able to pick up a bat or just coach first base," Orton told the team website, "but as she grows, she'll be a fixture at the ballpark."
