MONTEREY COUNTY, Calif. (KGO) -- There is some good news stemming from a horrible case of animal cruelty in Monterey County.

Seven dogs and a cat are now available for adoption, weeks after they were rescued from a home in Pacific Grove.

Humane Society workers found 14 dogs, four puppies and four cats living in filthy and toxic conditions in the home. There was so much trash, feces and urine; rescuers had to wear protective gear.

The Monterey County District Attorney's Office is considering multiple counts of animal neglect.

For people interested in adopting, they should contact the SPCA Monterey County.
