SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- One of San Francisco's oldest neighborhoods is about to get a new supervisor.
Wednesday afternoon, Mayor Ed Lee introduced his appointment for the North Beach/Chinatown area. Longtime activist Julie Christensen will replace David Chiu, who was elected to the state assembly.
Christensen has been active in North Beach. She helped get a new library built.
She is considered pro-business, but said Wednesday her priority will be transit and housing.
"We supply a lot of jobs in this neighborhood, especially medium and lower skill levels. And we want to make sure people can get to work," she said.
Christensen will be sworn-in Thursday, just in time to take part in a crucial vote to elect a new board of Supervisors president.
