1 killed, 1 critically injured in shooting near San Pedro Square in San Jose: police

SAN JOSE, Calif. -- One person is dead, another in critical condition after a shooting near San Pedro Square in San Jose Sunday night, police say.

Officers arrived in the area of North Market Street and West Santa Clara Street after receiving a call around 9:15 p.m. reporting a shooting.

Upon arrival, police found one person dead and a second gunshot victim was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Police said the case is being investigated as a homicide, but that it is not related to any World Cup watch party activity that's been happening in the area.

SJPD says they will have officers in the area on Monday for safety precautions.
