2 East Bay high school students killed, 2 others injured in Antioch crash
BRENTWOOD, Calif. (KGO) -- Two East Bay high school students were killed, and a third was injured in a crash early Sunday in Antioch, according to school officials.
The crash occurred just after midnight Sunday when two vehicles collided near Deer Valley and Balfour roads. The collision sent one of the vehicles down a hill.
The three teenagers who attended Liberty High School in Brentwood were traveling in the same vehicle. Two of the students died, while a third student was injured.
A fourth person, who was in the other vehicle, was also injured.
Liberty High officials said additional counseling and support services will be available to help students as they cope with the loss.
Principal Efa Huckaby wrote a letter to the community on Facebook, saying in part:
"With deep sadness, we share that two Liberty High School students passed away and another student was injured in a tragic car accident Saturday night."
"Our hearts are with their families, friends, classmates, teammates, and everyone affected by this tragedy. This loss will be felt throughout our school community."
Police are continuing to investigate the cause of the crash.
