HAYWARD, Calif. (KGO) -- Thirty-two years after the killing of 14-year-old Jenny Lin, her parents say they remain committed to seeking justice for their daughter, while a foundation created in her memory continues to honor her love of music.

"Every morning, I wake up and I'll say, good morning Jen and think of her," said Mei-Lian Lin, Jenny's mother.

Jenny Lin was killed May 27, 1994, at her Castro Valley home.

According to the Alameda County Sheriff's Office, she was home after school when her killer entered through a window and waited for her.

Her father returned from work and found her stabbed to death in the bathroom.

"Who did this to us? Why can't we catch this person? Even after 32 years, we won't give up," said John Lin, Jenny's father.

The commitment began the day they lost their daughter.

"We looked at her when she was lying there and we said, we promise you, we will find the justice for you," Mei-Lian Lin said.

The effort extends beyond the Lin family.

Each year, hundreds of people attend events supporting the Jenny Lin Foundation, which operates a free summer music camp for students that concludes with a concert in Hayward in her honor.

For Jenny's parents, the young musicians serve as a reminder of the daughter they lost.

"I looking at them, I can see almost in Jenny in every one of their eyes," John Lin said.

The case remains unsolved, but investigators continue to hold out hope that advances in technology could lead to a breakthrough.

The reward for information leading to a conviction has increased over the years and now stands at $200,000.

"You see some and the Lin's see a lot of these cases being solved, these cold cases, and we want this one to be the next one," said Detective Patrick Smyth.

As they continue to seek answers, Jenny's parents say they hope the foundation's work is a tribute their daughter would appreciate.

"So we believe she's up there looking down to us. And, you know, hopefully she'd say, nice job, mom and dad," Mei-Lian Lin said.
