FDA warning patients who received mammogram from California health facility
Mammography Center of Monterey's accreditation has been revoked
MONTEREY, Calif. (KGO) -- There is a new warning from the Food and Drug Administration for patients who screen for breast cancer after multiple complaints about a California health facility.
If you or a loved one received a mammogram from the Mammography Center of Monterey in the Central Coast, on or after December 22, 2023, you might have to be reexamined.
The FDA says complaints allege the center failed to give written mammography reports to health care providers, and written summaries to patients within 30 days after a mammogram was performed.
And, it allegedly failed to transfer mammography records within 15 days of a request.
The American College of Radiology revoked Mammography Center of Monterey's accreditation in December 2025 after failing to address the concerns and not filing an appeal.
And in June 2026, the FDA says the center failed an additional review by the ACR saying, "Some clinical image quality deficiencies were severe."
The FDA also says Mammography Center of Monterey did not comply with an order to notify at-risk patients.
So, what now?
If you were a patient, the FDA recommends you contact the center for your medical records, and have them reviewed by another health center certified by the American College of Radiology.

ABC7 Eyewitness News tried calling Mammography Center of Monterey, but their line is busy. We also reached out to the FDA about how many complaints there were exactly, but the FDA said, "the FDA does not comment on any ongoing investigations."
