
SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- The California Highway Patrol is investigating what caused a deadly crash between an 18-wheeler and a car in San Francisco.
CHP said the collision, between a Chevy Camaro and a Recology transfer truck, happened around 1:45 a.m. Saturday on eastbound I-80 near 7th Street.

The car ended up hitting the sand barrels, then went over the bridge railing and into the San Francisco Police Department impound lot below.

Four people were in the car. One of the passengers died at the scene.
In a statement, garbage collection company Recology said: "Safety is our top priority at Recology, and we are working with the proper authorities to determine exactly what happened."
Investigators are looking at speed as a factor.
