At least 1 dog rescued after being tied to RV in Oakland that went up in flames

OAKLAND, Calif. (KGO) -- An RV fire near Interstate 880 in Oakland was extinguished Monday morning after firefighters responded to reports of a blaze near Fifth and Kirkham streets, just east of the West Oakland BART station.

SKY7 captured video of the fire from overhead, showing an RV fully engulfed in flames.

Oakland Fire Department crews received the call just before 6:30 a.m. Officials told ABC7 that at least one dog was tied to the RV when the fire broke out.

SKY7 video shows three dogs running around some of the firefighters.

The fire appeared to have started in a small homeless encampment, according to information from the scene.

Firefighters had the blaze under control and extinguished it shortly before 7 a.m.

Authorities have not disclosed what caused the fire. It was also not immediately known whether anyone was injured, including the dog that was tied to the RV.
