'Moana' heads to digital platforms Sept. 8
Moana and Maui are setting sail to your living room as the live-action reimagining of "Moana" is headed to premium digital platforms September 8.
The film follows the story of Moana (Catherine Laga'aia) who answers the Ocean's call and, for the first time, voyages beyond the reef of her island of Motunui with the infamous demigod Maui (Dwayne Johnson) on an unforgettable journey to restore prosperity to her people.
The home version contains plenty of bonus features, including a look at how the team created the island of Motunui ON A FARM! You heard right.
"We needed a lot of acreage to build the village and to see it come to life," said producer Hiram Garcia. "It's an unbelievable landscape, it's one of our most amazing sets."
"The heart of the story of 'Moana' is about the saving of this beautiful island that everyone is living on. And so, our director Tommy Kail wanted the actors to be able to interact with this beautiful village, so it's really important for us to actually build the village so it's real and tangible to all the actors," said production designer John Myhre.
Other bonus features include a sing-along with the movie, the story of how Catherine Laga'aia was chosen as Moana and what telling this story meant to the cast and crew and their culture.
"Moana" will also be available on 4K, Blu-Ray and DVD on October 6.
