Newly-opened Original Joe's restaurant in Walnut Creek closes due to kitchen fire

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. (KGO) -- The Original Joe's restaurant that opened in Walnut Creek last week had to close Monday due to an overnight kitchen fire.

Firefighters responded to a small fire just after midnight while restaurant staff were still present.

A wall inside the back of restaurant suffered some smoke damage, but thankfully, there was no major damage or injuries.

The restaurant is expected to reopen within a week, but the exact day is unknown.
