LOS ANGELES -- Singer Sabrina Carpenter filed a temporary restraining order against a 31-year-old man she describes as a stranger who allegedly trespassed at her Los Angeles home and returned multiple times, according to court documents.
Carpenter said she has never met the alleged stalker, identified in court documents as William Applegate, and has no desire to meet him.
The filing comes after a series of incidents at her Los Angeles residence.
Carpenter said she first became aware of Applegate on May 23, when he allegedly breached security fencing at her home and approached her front door, as shown in Ring doorbell images referenced in the documents.
She said he then tried opening the door before her security team intervened.
Los Angeles police responded and arrested Applegate for criminal trespass.
According to Carpenter and her legal team, Applegate returned less than 24 hours later and allegedly loitered in her driveway for two hours.
Then, he appeared again on May 25, the documents state.
Carpenter's security team later determined that the alleged stalking behavior actually began on April 20, according to the filing.
Carpenter described Applegate as delusional and said she is in fear of what he may do.
A police detective involved in the case echoed those concerns in court documents, stating that Applegate is mentally unstable and poses a clear, credible and ongoing threat.
Applegate is scheduled to appear in court on June 18.
