SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- If you're thinking about going to a World Cup match, you already know it's not cheap. But it might cost less than you think.
Let's go over some of the numbers.
Costs are higher this year to be sure. According to the World Cup Guide, in 2022, the average price to see a Category Three game was $604... a Category Two game was $1,002... and a Category One game was $1,606.
But this year, the average price for Category Three is $4,185, Category Two is $5,575, and Category 1 is a whopping $8,680.
This is the first year that FIFA is using dynamic pricing for their tickets - part of the reason prices are pushing higher.

While tickets prices for nearly every game rose over time, there was one exception: California.
Between December and April, ticket prices for the Bay Area and Los Angeles games in Category One fell from $620 down to about $450 to $500.
Experts - and fans - have attributed this drop to California being assigned some "unappealing" teams.
And prices may still be falling. As of last week, there are resale tickets available on Ticketmaster for the first Bay Area game - Qatar versus Switzerland on June 13... starting at $307.
Still a lot for a ticket, but these Bay Area games might be closer than you thought.
