Virtual reality reaches consumers with release of Oculus

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- Serious gamers have been waiting years for Monday's release of the much-hyped Oculus Rift virtual reality headset.

The company, which Facebook bought for $2 billion, has been described as the "dream of science fiction."

With a headset, camera and game controller, the system is the first virtual reality product of its kind to reach consumers.
