$5,000 reward offered to find West Oakland raccoon killer

WEST OAKLAND, Calif. (KGO) -- A $5,000 reward is being offered to find the killer of a raccoon in West Oakland.

A passerby found the animal, alive but badly wounded, on Sunday in a church parking lot on Center Street.

It had been hit with five aluminum bolt darts fired from a crossbow.

The raccoon was taken to a Marin wildlife rescue center for treatment, but it later died.

The Animal Legal Defense Fund is putting up $5,000 for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of the perpetrator.
