SAN FRANCISCO -- Southbound Interstate Highway 280 reopened around 2 a.m. this morning following a construction project in San Francisco over the Memorial Day weekend, according to Caltrans.
Caltrans officials said the highway would reopen before 5 a.m.
Work on the bridge hinge construction project along I-280 began Saturday afternoon.
The hinges allow the bridge to accommodate expansion and contraction, as well as movement caused by an earthquake.
The highway was closed from Sixth Street to U.S. Highway 101.
