San Jose announces tougher restrictions on illegal fireworks
San Jose City Council members vote to hold people liable if they host gatherings with illegal fireworks.

SAN JOSE, Calif. (KGO) -- San Jose is getting a head start on dealing with illegal fireworks during the drought.

On Tuesday, City Council members voted to hold people liable if they host gatherings with illegal fireworks.

That includes liability for fire damage.

San Jose's Fire Department plans to ramp up enforcement ahead of the July 4th holiday.

They'll use surveillance drones and launch an online reporting tool.
