San Jose police investigate fatal shooting of woman

SAN JOSE (KGO) -- San Jose police are investigating the fatal shooting of a woman in the area of Bascom and Stokes.

The shooting happened around 10 p.m. Tuesday night. Police said it appears as though the victim knew the male suspect and this was not a random act. The victim had been shot while in a vehicle which has been seized for evidence processing. She was with a group of people when the shooting occurred and police questioned several witnesses. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The victim's identification is being withheld pending notification to the next of kin. The victim is a 33 year-old female from the Sacramento area.

The shooter is still at large and no arrests have been made.
