SAN PABLO, Calif. (KGO) -- CHP officers late Saturday night arrested a hit-and-run suspect who caused a collision that killed four people on westbound Interstate Highway 80 at San Pablo Dam Road in San Pablo, according to CHP officials.
At 11:45 p.m., CHP officials announced on social media that the suspect was apprehended. The Contra Costa County Sheriff's Department assisted in the arrest.
The collision was reported at 8:11 p.m. on Highway 80 at the San Pablo Dam Road off-ramp. The collision involved five vehicles and the suspect had fled the scene, CHP officials said.
Four people died in the collision and six were injured, CHP officials said.
A Sig-alert was issued at 9:22 p.m. because all westbound lanes of Highway 80 are blocked near the collision.
