SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- People are going bald for a good cause. ABC7 News was at the University of San Francisco Thursday as students shaved their heads to stand in solidarity with children battling cancer.

All proceeds benefited the St. Baldrick's Foundation, which raises money for childhood cancer research.

The foundation hoped to raise $6,000 from the event. After the initial shock wore off, participants told us it feels great to help those in need.

"I was like, 'Oh my God,' but it's for a good cause, so I felt really good about it. I had a lot of support," student Sindy Mendoza said.

Mendoza says she liked it so much she plans on doing it again when her hair grows back.
