A three-alarm fire burning at Lake Chabot Public Market in Castro Valley is now under control. It's unclear at this time how it started.
"As someone who grew up here, it's hard for me to even contemplate the loss of life...the historic Lahaina town gone, I feel like a piece of my childhood is really in ashes."
The roads in Lahaina were closed, so Maui resident Emerson Timmins had to get on a bicycle to get to his family. He soon realized what he was witnessing was unlike anything he had ever seen.
"Here on the mainland, we feel so hopeless because we know that our family and friends are there and we suffer right alongside with them," Berkeley resident Patrick Landeza said.
Video shared with ABC News shows a group of people driving through some of the neighborhoods where you can see home after home reduced to rubble and ash.
The bar was chock full of sports memorabilia and autographed pictures of players. "All the pictures are gone."
