A gunman barricaded himself inside a Philadelphia rowhouse for 7½ hours, firing on police and wounding six in a dramatic standoff that trapped two officers all while the commissioner and the shooter's attorney tried to negotiate a surrender.
It took more than seven hours for the suspected gunman who authorities said shot six officers to vacate a Philadelphia home, but not before Police Commissioner Richard Ross used some "unorthodox" tactics to end the standoff.
The attorney for suspected gunman Maurice Hill said a four-way phone call including Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner and Police Commissioner Richard Ross led to the end of a seven-hour plus standoff.
"As kids, we used to jump roofs," the man said in an exclusive interview. "Glad I had the practice."
Thirteen Philadelphia police officers will be fired following an investigation into racist and offensive Facebook posts, Commissioner Richard Ross said.
