SAN JOSE, Calif. (KGO) -- Starting on Monday, drivers in San Jose will face a detour due to BART construction.
The intersection of Sierra Road and Lundy Avenue will be completely closed to vehicles and pedestrians for the next nine months. The VTA bus line 77 will be re-routed.
Crews will be constructing a trench for the BART extension to run below the intersection.
Construction has reached the halfway point and is running ahead of schedule.
Service could begin as early as fall 2017.
