BART riders inconvenienced by delays
For much of the day, trains ran from beginning-to-end of just one of BART's four major lines, the Pittsburg/Bay Point line to Millbrae, and riders experienced significant delays.

OAKLAND, Calif. (KGO) -- For much of the day, trains ran from beginning-to-end of just one of BART's four major lines, the Pittsburg/Bay Point line to Millbrae.

Commuters coming in to the city from the East Bay experienced massive delays.

Midday Wednesday is not normally a tough time to get to AT&T Park, but many Giants fans attending Wednesday's 12:45 p.m. game arrived late thanks to BART.

"We were stuck in Oakland for a while, for about 20 minutes, before we finally got here," said Sophia Reina, a Giants fan.

Accustomed to running against the clock, members of an Australian track and field team remained calm as they contemplated missing their flight from SFO due to major BART delays.

"The time is ticking, a little bit stressed. But we're hoping the tracks will sort themselves out soon," said Melissa Duncan, an Australian runner.

A couple from Atlanta had a trip to Alcatraz on their agenda and tickets for a 1:30 p.m. ferry from San Francisco.

"Hopefully we'll make it on time and if not they'll put us in the next boat if we don't make it on time," said Carlin Muccular, a tourist.

"Hopefully we don't miss our spot," Ain Muccular said. "They said they'd try to push us back, but if we miss it we may miss out. So i'm praying either we get there in time to get our money back, or not miss the boat."

Though the line was officially fixed by late afternoon, the residual delays could last hours.
