World's second largest meteorite discovered in Argentina

The world's second largest meteorite was unearthed last weekend in Argentina.

It took two days to excavate the Gancedo meteorite, which weighs in at about 30 tons. That makes it the second largest ever recorded, AccuWeather reports. The largest is the 66-ton Hoba meteorite, which was discovered in Namibia about 100 years ago.

The Gancedo meteorite was discovered near Buenes Aires. It's thought that the giant rock slammed into Earth about 80,000 years ago.
