San Francisco South of Market streets reopen after water main break
SAN FRANCISCO -- The roadway where a water main break occurred early Friday morning in San Francisco's South of Market neighborhood has reopened, but will likely be closed again for more repair work, according to the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission.
The water main break, which occurred at around 3:15 a.m. on Fourth Street between Howard and Folsom streets, has since been repaired.

Crews then worked all Friday and into early this morning to pour concrete and repair the roadway.
While the roadway is back open, crews will again temporarily close it sometime this coming week to do final paving work, SFPUC officials said.
SFPUC officials however did not say which day or for how long the roadway would be closed.
The cause of the main break was likely due to the age of the pipe, which was built in 1985, according to SFPUC officials.
