Bay Area storm causes accidents, major traffic delays
SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- A storm that moved into the Bay Area Sunday night has caused several traffic accidents, power outages across the region and airport delays.

One of the biggest traffic hot spots was in Livermore where a big-rig accident prompted the closure of westbound I-580 lanes.
The big-rig was carrying 30,000 pounds of frozen chickens and was trying to cross the road, but overturned on the very wet I-580 just before the Greenville Road exit early this morning.
The big-rig remained on its side while only two lanes were open, which caused major traffic delays. Officials said the chickens needed to be offloaded before the big-rig could be towed.
A Sig Alert was in effect until 2:10 p.m. while crews worked to remove the big-rig from the road.
Drivers reported delays of more than four hours heading from Tracy to Dublin. "Today was three hours on a freeway, you know it's just, I wouldn't imagine it to be this way," Tracy resident Royal Sims said.

Drivers throughout the region, including in Sunol, experienced traffic delays as steady rain moved through the region.
Flooded roads were also a concern. The city of Fremont had warning signs out before under crossings.
The construction site for the new worship center for Crossroads Church in Fremont was a flooded mess and workers were told to stay home.
In Contra Costa County, wet roads may have caused a rollover accident on Byron Highway near the Alameda County line. Firefighters and CHP officers responded to the scene shortly after 6 a.m. Officials said one person was transported to the hospital. The victim's condition is unknown at this time.
San Francisco International Airport is reporting no significant delays, but anticipates delays of at least 45 minutes as the storm progresses through the day. No major delays are being reported at Oakland International Airport and Mineta San Jose International Airport.
Earlier this morning an accident involving a big-rig shutdown eastbound lanes of the Bay Bridge past Treasure Island. The accident has since been cleared.

In Menlo Park, a five-car crash left thousands of nails in the eastbound lanes of the Dumbarton Bridge earlier this morning. One person suffered minor injuries in the crash.
Power was knocked out for thousands of customers in the Bay Area. Most of the outages occurred in the Peninsula, where over 500 customers are still without power. Nearly 400 customers are without power in the East Bay; nearly 100 in San Francisco; 40 in the North Bay and at least a dozen in the South Bay.

A Flash Flood Warning has been issued for parts of Lake, Colusa, and Yolo counties. Up to half an inch of rain has fallen over the past 30 minutes. Flash flooding and debris flows are likely to begin shortly.
In Tahoe, a Winter Weather Advisory is continuing with chains required on Interstate 80 and Highway 88.
