SAN FRANCISCO. (KGO) -- Some might say the Super Bowl is a dog and pony show, but in San Francisco, it was a show of prized Clydesdales.

The stars of the Super Bowl Budweiser commercials took over downtown Thursday. So, sometimes a traffic jam and a crowd in San Francisco are actually worth the wait.

Eight Budweiser Clydesdales pulled an empty beer wagon Thursday through San Francisco's downtown streets that were lined with people, three and four deep in places.

Doug Boussclot, the boss of the Clydesdales, said the horses eat 10 pounds of hay and 35 pounds of grain every day.

"We see the police. We think it's a politician. Someone important, and it's the Clydesdales," said Mike Cann of San Francisco.

Budweiser has three traveling teams OF Clydesdales and each horse is a gelding standing at least 72 inches tall, and weighing as much as 2,300 pounds.
