Loud boom heard in the East Bay

ALAMEDA, Calif. (KGO) -- Many people in Alameda and Oakland went straight to social media looking for answers after hearing a loud bang.

Some say the noise was so powerful, their houses shook.

ABC7 News was in the process of launching SKY7 to investigate, when Oakland Fire Captain Sean Laffan told us the loud noise was believed to be a ship starting up near the Howard Terminal, just north of Jack London Square.
