North County Fire Authority officials controlled a grass fire in Brisbane within an hour this morning that caused a brief evacuation of a nearby school, said spokesman Clyde Preston.

The fire was reported near 1 Solano St. just before 9 a.m. and consumed about 2 acres, Preston said.

Preston initially reported that Natalie Lipman Middle School was not evacuated but later said the school did require a brief evacuation before allowing staff and students back inside, he said.

The fire was controlled by 9:45 a.m. but firefighters remained at the scene to mop up, and a fire investigator was also present to assess the cause of the blaze, said Preston.

No homes were threatened by the fire and there were no reported injuries as a result of the incident, he said.
