Heller's for Children
This year marks the 50th anniversary of Bay Area retailer Heller's for Children. The store has served Marin's tiniest denizens and their new parents since 1958. Today, third-generation customers still shop at Heller's for clothing, toys, furniture and supplies for infants and kids. Now an octogenarian with a twinkle in his eye, Herbert Heller reports that his original customers, who used to bring their children into the store so many years ago, now have grown grandchildren who shop there for their own kids.
Heller's daughter Linda and her husband Barry Levy assumed ownership of Heller's For Children in 2006. What's the secret to the shop's longevity? The Levys believe that the store's ongoing commitment to providing customers with personalized assistance and a well-informed sales staff familiar with the latest safety concerns and product information is what sets Heller's apart from chain retailers.
