Two men smashed one of the tall glass front doors of the downtown store on University Avenue around 4:10 a.m., grabbed six laptops and several iPhones from display shelves and fled, Ryan said.
The store's alarm company summoned police, who arrived within several minutes but the suspects were already gone, Ryan said. Police estimated the loss of merchandise at around $10,000.
Police are reviewing security footage to see if any helpful images were captured, Ryan said.
The suspects have been described as a white man about 6 feet tall and weighing 250 pounds, and a black man of about the same height weighing roughly 185 pounds, Ryan said. Both were wearing dark jackets, pants and beanies, he said.
Ryan said Los Gatos police responded about an hour later to another Apple store burglary. A window had been smashed in that case as well and a similar amount of merchandise stolen, he said.
The suspects in the Los Gatos burglary matched the description of the suspects in the Palo Alto case, Ryan said. A brown, 1990s Chevy sedan similar to a Caprice or an Impala was seen leaving the Los Gatos store, Ryan said.
