Morning Blog-Mar. 12
It's Thursday already! I'm telling you -- this has been a really cool week as far as School Spirit goes. We got word Lapeer East raised food and cash enough to equal 17,162 POUNDS of food. As Jim Bleicher, our News Director, said - astounding. The fact that all these kids are working so hard to raise food for their communities makes me SO proud to be a part of School Spirit.
Second place goes to LakeVille High School with 4006 pounds raised. In all, the ten schools which have participated so far have raised more than 33,000 pounds of food. UNBELIEVABLE!!!
Tomorrow, the Spirit Squad heads to Flint Northern to see what the Vikings are up to.

Morning Blog-Mar. 11Welcome to Wednesday. It's been a busy week so far -- seems like there has been a LOT to do each night. Yes, I work overnight. I come into work around 10:30pm and leave anywhere between 7:30 and 10 in the morning. It is astounding how quickly it flies right by. Some days before the show, I look up and realize I haven't moved from my chair in more than 6 hours!
Now, due to the crazy schedule, I don't have much time to watch TV (unlike Marc) -- though I certainly wish I did. What I do have time for (thanks to my BlackBerry) is to read a bunch of celeb gossip blogs every day. For those who know me personally, you know I am pretty much obsessed with Kanye West. So imagine how baffled I was when his new girlfriend started popping up all over the place. Her name is Amber Rose. She has a very unique sense of fashion.
For example, there were pictures floating around the other day of her at a fashion show with Kanye. Ms. Rose was decked out in pink spandex pants. Of course, she was also rocking huge sunglasses and a shaved head. Girl is BRAVE. I've never seen anything like it (outside of the early 90's).
Another brave woman -- mid-Michigan's own Nancy Norris. Nancy was live with us at Flint Hurley Health and Fitness Center this morning to demonstrate how she's been training for a HUGE mountain-climbing expedition. Two weeks from now, she'll climb Mt. Everest. And she happens to be 65 years old (although you would NEVER be able to tell, she is in fabulous shape). When she makes it, Nancy will become the oldest US woman scale Everest, and she'll also become the oldest woman in the world to have climbed the highest mountains on all 7 continents.
Talk about amazing and inspiring. Adrienne, our newsroom assistant, immediately said it was her goal to look like Nancy at that age. I said I want to look like her now, at MY age -- 27. At any rate, you can bet I am going to jump into my running gear this morning and hit the road for a while.
Tomorrow, Marc's going to lace up his ice skates. Get ready for some awkward moments! See you bright and early on Thursday.

Morning Blog-Mar. 10
I'm tired! Very tired. It was a brilliant idea to move daylight savings up to early March, but for a guy that goes to bed at 10 o'clock, and wakes up at 2:45 in the morning, recovering from that one hour of lost sleep last weekend is a month-long process. As a result, I have a hard time going to bed on time, and an even harder time waking up to one of my three alarm clocks. It doesn't help that I seem to shake out of my semi-coma every 20 minutes, in a cold sweat, to check the time. I typically hit the deep sleep mode 15 minutes before the buzzer begins to blare. I'm always afraid that I'll wake up at 5:30 and realize that I'm supposed to be on the air for a live shot in 13 minutes. I haven't been late yet, but that's probably out of fear that our Executive Producer, Lisa Ray, will hang me upside down by my toe nails if it happens (and trust me, Lisa has been known to do such things).
The one perk to my insomnia is that I was able to stay up last night and watch the premiere of "Dancing With the Stars", or "DWTS" as all the cool kids call it.
I was captivated by the performance of both Holly and Melissa. In case you didn't know, Holly is one of Hef's three ex-girlfriends from the "Girls Next Door." I'm fascinated by anything associated with Hugh Hefner. I've only read his magazines for the articles. I actually grew up in Chicago, around the block from what was the original Playboy Mansion. By the time my family moved into our high rise, the Mansion had been transformed by the Art Institute of Chicago into student housing. The name of the dorm was appropriately named "Hefner Hall". Could you imagine living in that place? While I was a student at Boston University, I was stuck living in dorms with boring names like Claflin or Sleeper Hall. From what I remember, most of the finer points of the mansion had been replaced, but Hef's personal bowling alley was still in the basement.
When I was very young, my parents would occasionally take me to Lake Geneva for a Sunday afternoon of paddle boating and feeding cute, little ducks. What I later realized, was that our excursions were at the Playboy Club. Sunday was apparently "Family Day", so there were no bunnies running around. I remember having a Playboy pennant on the wall in my room, alongside my Chicago Cubs and Bears posters. If I only I knew then what I know now. That is why I'm pulling for Holly to win DWTS.
Melissa might give her a run for the money, though. She's guaranteed to win the sympathy vote. I must say that the producers of that show are absolute geniuses for grabbing her as an injury replacement just two days after Jason dumped her and broke off their engagement on the Bachelor. I must emphasize again that up until the finale, I had never watched the Bachelor in my entire life. I only watch the Bachelorette. I also watch the "After the Final Rose" shows.
Tomorrow, on ABC12 News This Morning, it's time for me to hit the gym once again. I'll be live at Hurley Health and Fitness, showing off my tremendous physique, while working out with Nancy Norris as she prepares to climb Mt. Everest. Nancy is incredible. She's 65 years old, and is in unbelievable shape. She'll put me to shame. Let the hijinks and hilarity begin. See you tomorrow morning!

Morning Blog-Mar. 9
It's been confirmed! We're in - for an audition anyway. AM Show Executive Producer Lisa and I will get to audition for the movie "Minor League, a Football Story" soon to be filmed in Genesee County.
This morning, Marc was live at Lyon Productions in Flint Twp. with the executive producer, Brad Lyon. You can check out Marc's live shot on the Morning Show page. In it - you'll find where to go for the audition (it's open to the public), what time, and what you need to be ready for your close-up.
It was good to be back at work today. The weekend was interesting -- got to catch up with Jessi, an old high school friend. Since she just had foot surgery, we were sitting for most of Saturday night -- which led us witness our first "UFC." For those in the dark -- as we were -- that stands for Ultimate Fighting Championship.
Since I spent most of the time shrieking with my hands over my eyes, I had to wiki it to find out that it's an attempt to find the world's best fighters - no matter what their style is. All I know is, the guys were in shorts and bare feet, there was lots of kicking and punching and blood -- and people got KO'd really fast. I was horrified, but the restaurant was wall-to-wall with screaming guys-- and some girls, too. Also weird -- Jessi was really oddly good at picking the winners. What do YOU think about UFC? Ever seen it?
I'm guessing those fighters probably need a lot of health care. Which brings me to what we're working on for Tuesday morning -- a preview of the McLaren Health Careers Open House in Flint Twp. If you're interested in the field -- this is where you need to be!
We're just getting the week started - so see you bright and early tomorrow morning.
