A Gilroy teen will perform community service and be on probation for one year for the drinking-related death of her friend at a slumber party.

Kayla Dunigan, 18, was one of three young people with 15-year-old Sarah Botill the night Botill died.

Dunigan was the only person charged. She pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor for providing alcohol to a minor.

This tragedy got a lot of attention in Gilroy -- the victim, Botill, was the daughter of a former Gilroy firefighter.

The slumber party was held at the home of a former City Council member.
