Police were called to a disturbance on Myrtle Road near Howard Avenue. They found a 20-year-old man armed with a knife, who they say began moving toward the officers. After trying to use a Taser on the man, with no success, police opened fire, and killed him.
His name is not being released pending notification of his family.
The San Mateo County DA's office will take part in the investigation and the officers who shot the man have been put on routine administrative leave.
