William Devereaux was senior vice-president of the utility's controversial SmartMeter program. Last week, he was caught using a fake name trying to join an online discussion group of people opposed to SmartMeters.
Devereaux admitted trying to join the group, as well as monitoring other online groups. He claimed he was trying to get a better understand of critics concerns.
SmartMeter opponents call Devereaux's actions outrageous and despicable.
