They examined hearing test results from over four 4,000 teens and exposure to loud noise or music through headphones rose 15 percent in the 12 years to 2006.
While overall hearing loss rates didn't change significantly, noise induced hearing loss among teen girls increased by 5 percent, close to the level of teen boys.
The study is published in the January issue of "Pediatrics."
