The city was picked on December 31 to host the race for the most coveted trophy in international sailing. The match will pit the American defender, led by Oracle chief Larry Ellison, against a foreign challenger.
That challenger will be determined by a series of races for the Louis Vuitton Cup, which has been scheduled from July 13 to September 1 in 2013.
The 34th America's Cup will be then be decided by the best of nine races to be held from September 7 to September 22.
