Flights taking off from SFO's new Terminal 2

SAN FRANCISCO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

The first departures from the new $383 million terminal were scheduled for 6 a.m., when two American Airlines flights took off for Dallas and Miami, SFO spokesman Mike McCarron said.

Virgin America, which will join American Airlines in operating its flights out of the 640,000-square-foot terminal, had its first scheduled departure at 7 a.m.

The first arrival was at 7:45 a.m., when a Virgin America flight from Los Angeles was scheduled to land.

Terminal 2 features ambient lighting, play areas for kids, $3.7 million in public art, hydration stations and local food vendors.
