Toledo police say someone called 9-1-1 after hearing gunshots. When officers arrived on scene, they found the victim dead and covered in blood. Investigators say the man lives in the duplex where he was found and that he was shot several times from inside the home.
Captain Wes Bombrys of the Toledo Police Department says, "He was found here by his mother. Appears to have been several shots that were fired from inside the residence."
Police are not releasing the victim's identity. But they're confirming the shooting victim is a 26-year-old male. Neighbors tell us he lived on the second floor of this duplex while his mother and brother live on the first level.
Ham says the victim and his family just moved into this home and he would often see them outside. Ham says, "I walk up and down the street, visit my parents when they are on the porch. They speak to me and seemed like they was good neighbors."
Police did take people in for questioning. Investigators say there is going to be an autopsy. Meantime, officials are trying to figure out what the victim was doing moments before the shooting.
"We're just taking some witnesses down to get a better statement from them at this point," says Bombrys.
