Police investigating fatal stabbing in E. San Jose

EAST SAN JOSE, Calif.

At 12:37 a.m. police received a report of a stabbing in the 100 block of Checkers Drive, San Jose police Sgt. Jason Dwyer said.

Police found a man in front of a residence suffering from multiple stab wounds.

The victim, believed to be about 40 years old, was transported to Regional Medical Center of San Jose, where he was pronounced dead just after 1:30 a.m., Dwyer said.

No suspects have been identified or apprehended in connection with the stabbing and police have not released suspect information.

The motive behind the stabbing remains under investigation and police have not said if this was a gang-related incident.

The victim's identity is being withheld pending notification of the his next of kin, police said.

This fatal stabbing marks San Jose's 24th homicide of 2013, according to police.
