The plywood temporary back door at the Parnell residence is a daily reminder of the nightmare the family recently lived.
Jana Parnell said, "It makes you mad and you just want to feel comfortable and safe where you live. For someone to come in and violate that, it makes you mad."
Parnell left her home last Friday around 1pm. Thirty minutes later she got a call from her alarm security company saying her house was broken into. Friendswood police tell her that's no coincidence.
"They think I was being watched, like the saw me leave," she explained.
Three days later, Friendswood police say another home was broken into, followed by a third just hours later -- a total of three home burglaries in four days within a mile of each other.
"I've never felt threatened or scared being here," Parnell said. "Obviously, that's changed."
Friendswood police believe there is a pattern. They say the suspects picked homes on corner lots or homes next to a field.
