San Leandro police give out bikes to disadvantaged youth

SAN LEANDRO, Calif. (KGO) -- San Leandro police officers will be giving out hundreds of bikes to children this holiday season.

The Police Officer's Association raised $28,000 to buy 520 bikes for the annual "Bikes for Tykes" program to serve underprivileged youth.

The kids who will receive the bikes were selected from a random drawing.

The bike giveaway starts at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Davis Street Family Resource Center.
