Bryman College in San Jose reopens after eviction

SAN JOSE (KGO) -- A South Bay vocational school has reopened this morning, two days after suddenly shutting down and leaving students pursuing health care careers in a lurch.

The Bryman College president said a dispute with the landlord has been resolved and students will be returning today. The attorney for the landlord said Bryman College's owners, Biohealth College Incorporated, was first served with an eviction notice in February. The sheriff's office carried out the eviction on Monday, posting no trespassing signs all around the building.

The landlord's attorney says back rent had grown to about $80,000. There is no word on what agreement was reached between the two parties, but Bryman College's president says students were notified to return to class today.

The school offers courses for dental assistant, medical assistant, massage therapy and medical administrative assistant.

There is no word on how many students are currently enrolled, but the latest public record from 2012 had enrollment at about 400.
