Caltrans to close San Mateo Bridge in May for repairs

HAYWARD, Calif. (KGO) -- Caltrans will close the San Mateo-Hayward Bridge for two, possibly three weekends in May.

The closures are scheduled for the weekends of May 8 and May 15, with a third closure possible the weekend of May 22.

Each of those closures would begin at 10 p.m. Friday night and go until 5 a.m. Monday morning.

Crews will be resurfacing the entire span of the bridge and replacing expansion joints.
